Mayor Barry Sammels said there were a range of payment options to help ratepayers.

These included a new option of being able to track rates and pay them through the City’s secure, online portal Rock Port at www.cityrockport.com.au.

The standard range of payment methods include: one annual instalment, two instalments or four instalments.

Rates smoothing is another option that spreads payments across the year.

People can make regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments towards their rates, provided the total is paid before the end of the financial year. Three rates smoothing payment arrangements are available: weekly of 41 equal payments, fortnightly of 21 equal payments and monthly of 10 equal payments.

Details of the amount due for each option are included on rate notices issued on July 19.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the City had worked hard to ensure rates increases were kept to a minimum this year.

“The 2017-2018 budget adopted by council on June 27 was developed to meet the objectives of the City’s Business Plan,” he said.
