RESIDENTS against fracking presented a letter to Premier Mark McGowan’s Rockingham office on Tuesday.
The letter called for an independent and robust inquiry, not led by the Department of Mines and Petroleum, into the consequences of fracking, especially to the water supply.
Warnbro resident Mary Ann Rath said artesian water was very precious and should not be contaminated.
“Please do not grant any more exploration leases and halt those already given,” the letter said.
“We are positive that the findings will lead the government to ban fracking for the whole of WA, then together support other states in this endeavour.
“Your voters expect nothing less from you Mark.”
