There will be an opportunity to exchange old lifejackets.

RSRG officer Craig Bryce said Marine Safety WA will run the demonstration.

“For members of the public (subject to numbers) who would like to be involved with their own flares, you must be there for the safety briefing to be held at 9.45am,” he said.

“Our base will be open to the public, so if you have ever wanted to have a look at the inner workings of how we work keeping you safe on the water you will be taken to have a look through our base.

“Any questions on radios, EPIRBs, logging on/logging off, or just boating questions in general regarding your safety on the water, our team of active members will be glad to help.”

Volunteeer Marine Rescue WA will also be present to give some hands-on experience about marine safety.

The main flare demonstration will take place between 10 and 11am. The group will also take any expired flares and EPIRBs to be safely disposed of.

“This is a great opportunity for members of the boating public to be in a ‘hands-on’ exercise about marine safety,” he said.
