TO KICK off their next exhibition, Rockingham Watercolour Society (RWS) will hold an opening night on Saturday night at the Gary Holland Centre.
The Mixed Media Art Exhibition will feature local artists works RWS president Peta Heaney said.
“Our members have been working enthusiastically to produce some exciting works for their upcoming exhibition,” she said.
“It is their first one for 2017.
“Lee Battersby, representing the City of Rockingham, will officiate on the opening night.
“Over 40 paintings will be displayed on both levels of the venue and all are for sale.”
Established in 1994, RWS meets every Friday for studio sessions at Gary Holland Centre on Kent Street, Rockingham.
“While concentrating mainly in watercolours, members also choose to work with mixed media where they can experiment and develop different artistic techniques and styles.” Heaney said.
“This is a warm and friendly group with many first class artists who meet together to paint and socialise.
“New members are encouraged to join and the society holds afternoon sessions 1pm-3pm specifically for newer members to learn basic watercolour techniques.”
A six-week ‘Introduction to Watercolours’ runs every couple of months.
