Group convenor Joanna Illescas-Timms has seen many changes.

“For me personally it’s been a 360 degree transformation – the confidence, happiness and sense of place it has given me,” she said.

“And it has been really amazing to witness how it’s helped so many other women to be themselves.

“It’s quite remarkable considering I started the page by accident.

“I was sorting my Facebook friends by interests and I called one Pin-up, then I got all these requests of people wanting to join.

“It just exploded from there.

“There are not many places people can feel safe on the internet. This group provides that.

“I now have a back-up of girls – a family of girls.”

The group evolved to a bustling hub for networking of ideas and using each other’s talents and business acumen.

Member Angie Delarie said a small business network had been created through the page.

“Joanna started her business Lipsense that sells long-lasting lipsticks and cosmetics. I wanted to take on Joanna’s products to boost my photography business,” she said.

“That’s what I’ve done and it has boosted both our businesses.”

Members often share their skills, from sewing to sex therapy.

Ms Illescas-Timms said there was always something on or to do.

“There are lots of people offering their services and we have created lots of social outings and nights: sewing, craft nights, bingo, hair accessories night, tenpin bowling, the zoo and dancing.”

They are community and charity-minded and always on the look-out for opportunities.

They have helped with soup kitchens, raised money for the Chihuahua Rescue and Rescue Cats in Baldivis.

Ms Illescas-Timms said they were in the process of organising a big Pin-up event for Rockingham.

“It will feature a Pin-up Parade for all shapes, sizes and ages, stalls and we are looking to do it in combination with a car show,” she said.

“We are currently looking for sponsorships from businesses.”
