ROTARY Club of Rockingham members have been showing their philanthropic ideals by handing out thousands of dollars to community groups.

On Tuesday, Rockingham Volunteer Marine Rescue received $18,000 to go towards a new shed.

Vice-Commander Chris Aleman said everything was crammed in a garage and a new shed was desperately needed.

Money will also be distributed to about 10 groups, including Coastal Districts Care and Peel Riding for the Disabled.

Much of the money raised was from the Rotary markets at the Village Green on Sundays.
