Safety Bay man charged after police chase through southern suburbs

A SAFETY Bay man has been charged after leading police on a dangerous pursuit through several southern suburbs yesterday morning.

The 21-year-old man, who was driving a silver Holden Statesman, was eventually stopped on Forrest Highway near Australind after a stinger was deployed.

He has been charged with failing to stop as well driving a motor vehicle in a manner that was inherently dangerous to escape pursuit.

He will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on May 25.

A second man of no fixed address who was also present has been charged with possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property, allowing someone to drive with false plates, using an unlicensed vehicle on a road, no authority to drive due to suspension, permitting an unlicensed or unauthorised person to drive a motor vehicle, and reckless driving.

He will face Bunbury Magistrates Court on May 5.
