A SAFTEY Bay resident was disgusted at the state of charity bins on Waimea Road on Tuesday.
“It looked like someone had cut a padlock to one of the bins,” she said.
“Stuff was scattered around the bins; they’d left such a mess. It’s shocking.”

READ NOWGood Samaritans retail operations manager Paige Lynam said it was an unfortunate situation.
“(Staff) come into some of our Good Sammy stores in the mornings only to be presented with donations which have been riffled through,” she said.
“This then leads to the local community, staff and volunteers being upset by the situation as donations are the bloodline to our organisation, which supports our mission in providing meaningful employment opportunities to those living with a disability.
“At Good Sammy we endeavour to do all we can to keep the bin sites clean and clear on a regular basis to ensure our donor items are kept in good condition.”
Ms Lynam said it was unfortunate there was a minority of people who chose to be self-serving for their own reasons, which led to bin sites being left in disarray.
“The majority of people do the right thing and we thank them for their contribution towards our mission,” she said.
“We encourage wherever possible that donors donate during business hours in one of our 29 stores so we can ensure their items are used for the right purpose and we can thank them personally.”
