Safety Bay Senior High in harmony

Students were treated to a performance of traditional Chinese lion dancing by the Perth Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy.

Music program and student council co-ordinator Ashlea Reale said the performance was organised with help from student councillors and was about sharing the message that everyone belongs at the school.

Safety Bay Senior High School Principal Alen Kursar said the performance sent a powerful message of acceptance of cultural diversity.

“We have a very diverse school community here at Safety Bay Senior High School and we pride ourselves on ensuring everyone feels welcome,” he said.

Lion dances have been performed in China for centuries and is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and happiness.
