CONSTRUCTION of two service stations on Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis is flagged to begin within a year, with the project given a four-year timeframe.
That is what the City of Rockingham’s Planning and Engineering Services committee was told on Monday, when an application to make amendments to the planning approvals of the sites was endorsed for a vote at council.
When construction starts it will mark the end of more than 13 years of attempts to develop service stations on the site.
BP Australia plans to build the dual service stations just south of Mundijong Road ” one on the northbound site Lot 191 Paparone Road in Baldivis and the other on Lot 192 Leary Road in Baldivis for southbound traffic.
The petrol stations would be the first directly adjacent to the freeway.
There is now only one petrol station in Baldivis servicing a population of nearly 20,000.
If councillors adopt the report at Tuesday’s full council meeting, the application goes to Metro South-West Joint Development Assessment Panel for final approval.
