Shoalwater: alleged drunk driver charged over pedestrian death

POLICE have charged a young man who was allegedly drunk when he was driving a car that struck and killed a female pedestrian in Shoalwater recently.

The 27-year-old Warnbro man allegedly lost control of a Holden Statesman travelling north on Arcadia Drive about 5.25pm on March 24.

The vehicle crashed into the 62-year-old victim, who was walking south.

The woman later died in Rockingham Hospital.

Investigators charged the man with driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving causing death.

He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on May 1.
