Shoalwater artist’s 3m totem will stand out at Craft and Quilt Fair

THIS three-metre totem will feature at the 2017 Craft and Quilt Fair on at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from next Wednesday.

It was created during the Easter long weekend in a collaborative effort led by a local Shoalwater artist Ashley Hay.

The other contributors were Kerin Thorn, Liezl Collins, Lisa Wray, Sue Calderbank and Donna Hay.

Artist Kerin Thorn wrote a poem to accompany the totem in its namesake – Bird Guardian and an excerpt is below:

Once upon an ancient night

The moon was out and shining bright

A forest stood beneath its beam

Its trees stood tall with leaves of green…

The craft and quilt fair will be held from Wednesday, May 24, to Sunday, May 28, from 9am to 4pm.
