“I lived with an amazing family in Madrid,” she said.

“We were 20 minutes from the city centre so I could walk there any time.”

Miss Hilton said Rotary took the students for a three-week tour of Europe and she saw 12 countries.

Before she left Australia, Miss Hilton did not know any Spanish and now she is “almost fluent” in the language.

Miss Hilton is now preparing for chiropractic studies at Murdoch University.

She encouraged young people in Rockingham to consider travelling abroad with the Rotary Youth Exchange program.
