Shopper left feeling green after discoloured chicken at Woolworths Rockingham

Rose Harris said she had gone right off chicken and was considering becoming a vegetarian.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said council received a complaint about green chicken on October 19.

“The City’s environmental health officer undertook an inspection of the store,” he said.

“At the time of the inspection the (officer) did not observe any non-compliances with the Food Act. The manager of the store was aware of the complaint and had already discussed the matter with the store’s suppliers.

“The City routinely inspects all food premises and raises any potential food safety concerns directly with the manager during the inspection.”

A Woolworths spokesman said staff were disappointed to hear about the customer’s experience.

“We want our customers to enjoy only the freshest possible products and this was clearly not up to the standards they and we expect,” he said. “We are working with our team to ensure we provide only the freshest produce for our customers.”
