Ashlee Glands (14) is an Olympian in the making with a host of accolades to her name.

She has just been chosen as the youngest member of the State team to head to the Australian Institute of Sport for a week-long athletic camp.

At a recent competition in Malaysia, she competed for WA and won five medals in five events, including gold in the triple jump, 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

She was not even meant to compete in the relay.

‘Ashlee was in the triple jump competition when an official asked her to do the 4x400m relay as two other athletes were injured and couldn’t compete,’ Mr Gland said.

‘Ashlee dug deep to help them win and then returned to win the triple jump with a massive 11.37m jump.’

She is the state long jump champion and currently rated second in Australia.
