Ms Jones said it was an honour to have been nominated and become a finalist.

Last year, Ms Jones was diagnosed with a brain tumour, but was determined to carry on.

“Where there’s a will there’s a way,” she said.

Ms Jones said she had a supportive team and family, which helped.

She said she loved her job, inspiring and educating, building relationships with children and their families.

The childcare centre is part of the college and caters for children from six months of age.

The State awards will be announced on Tuesday, May 17 and the National Awards on Friday, June 17.
