A WOMAN was fined for assaulting two people by spitting at them.

Daniella Maria Altepost pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault at Rockingham Magistrates Court on December 1.

The court heard the 18-year-old went to Rockingham Shopping Centre at 9am on November 16 where she was heard by security staff banging loudly on the service door.

She was advised to go to centre management.

However, she continued to bang on the door and yell abuse.

She spat on the two security guards several times.

Fearing a further assault, the guards let go of Altepost at the adjacent carpark.

Her lawyer said Altepost had just come from hospital and urgently needed to see her mother, who worked at the shopping centre.

Altepost had a fine of $1000 reduced from $1500 for her early guilty plea.

“Spitting is just degrading to the person spat on and to the one doing the spitting,” Magistrate Stephen Wilson told Altepost.

“It is one of the lower acts that you can do to somebody in my view.”
