Spotlight on vital service providers

Jaime ShurmerWeekend Kwinana Courier

Community for Children Program Kwinana manager Jean Westerhout said the landscape of services in the area had changed recently with funding cuts and some new sources of funding.

She said Kwinana was recognised as an area of need so investment in services would continue.

Representatives from Relationships Australia, the Red Cross, Ngala and many other providers exchanged "romantic" gifts including bubbles, soaps and even condoms supplied by the AIDS Council as an icebreaker.

They discussed all the programs their organisations offered the community and outlined referral limitations.

Ms Westerhout said new services to Kwinana included the City of Kwinana's two community engagement officers, and the Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors (ASeTTS).

Representatives from Bendigo Bank also attended to learn more about the programs that need funding in the future, she said.
