The school also took out the Outstanding Sportsmanship Award as well as Best Overall New School.

Jump Jam, a children’s aerobics program created by Brett Fairweather, was introduced to the school last year by Jump Jam coordinator Ethel Murphy.

Now the whole school, including teachers, students and some parents, participate most mornings in the high energy mix of dance and aerobics.

Students were specially selected to participate in the competition teams.

“The program is such a positive thing for all the students to participate in first thing in the morning,” Mrs Murphy said.

“We find that the positivity that students get out of it then filters down into their learning and behaviour for the rest of the day.

“There is nothing quite like starting the day with dancing.”
