Star student reveals his

The Lakeland Senior High School graduate received one of the highest scores in the State and has put it down to finding a good study routine.

August also walked away with a Certificate of Commendation for achieving at least 20 ‘A’ grade results and a Certificate of Distinction for integrated science.

The dedicated student said his success had come from hard work and creating realistic study routines.

His planning actually started at the end of each school day, when he would type up summarised notes of each class.

This meant he was compiling relevant revision sheets as the year progressed.

‘It took a little while for me to come to using this method, but it really helped, especially when I made the transition from Year 10 to Year 11 and the intensity went up,’ he said.

August will study business law at the University of WA.

Madelyn Veenstra from Comet Bay College was also recognised for her achievements, receiving a School Curriculum and Standards Authority award and was the VET Dux of her school.

Madelyn also achieved a Certificate II in Tourism while at school and is presently completing a bridging course at Curtin that will enable her to study tourism and Asian studies in February.
