The Strategy stems from the Strategic Community Plan that showed community aspirations included the active pursuit of tourism and economic development.

The five priorities contained in the strategy include destination marketing that targets eco and adventure tourism; face-to-face and digital visitor servicing; coastal development and activation; events activation to create an entertainment destination; and plans to become an attractive destination for meetings, conferences and events.

Rockingham Deputy Mayor Deb Hamblin said the Tourist Destination Strategy would be central to the success of boosting tourism in Rockingham.

“Rockingham is the place where the coast comes to life and we are blessed to have an abundance of fantastic environmental assets including breathtaking coastline, stunning wildlife and exciting ecoadventures right on our doorstep,” she said.

The draft strategy will be open for public comment until April 26.
