SUPER-fast internet is ramping up around Rockingham with thousands of local residents now able to connect to the NBN for the first time using fibre technology.
The NBN first arrived in Rockingham in September 2016 and since then almost 14,000 local premises have been made eligible to connect across Rockingham, East Rockingham, Shoalwater, Safety Bay, Waikiki, Cooloongup and Peron.
Around 3500 additional homes and businesses surrounding Rockingham in areas including Safety Bay and Cooloongup now have access to the NBN’s fast download speeds, opening up a huge range of digital doors for local families and businesses.

Telstra Area general manager Boyd Brown said the extension of Telstra services on the NBN network around Rockingham gave locals access to interstate and international learning opportunities.
“We’re also starting to see schools that are connected to the NBN network experiencing greater bandwidth and faster speeds in the classroom, opening the gate to an exciting new world of learning,” he said. “In addition to the NBN network advancing our schools’ capabilities, it’s also opening the door to a new era of learning for children.
“In the classroom, students are embracing future careers as coders and engineers and expanding their appetite for problem solving and independent thought. Such skills will set Australia up for a globally-competitive, technology-driven future.”
Mr Brown said it was exciting times for the Rockingham community as the rollout of the NBN network continues across the region.
