The pair are the club’s only competitors at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships (Aussies) to be held at North Kirra from April 17 to 21.

Ford, from Shoalwater, will compete in the highly competitive and gruelling open male single ski.

He hopes to emulate the form that won him the World Life Saving bronze medal in an exhausting 17km ski in Adelaide last year.

Bussey, from Golden Bay, will compete in under-17 events, including surf race, iron woman, rescue tube race and surfboard race.

The Kolbe Catholic College student recently won silver in the rescue tube race at the WA state championships at Trigg and silver in the under-19 female board rescue.

She also holds gold and the Australian record in the under-15 100m manikin-tow.

SHSLC organiser Carolyn Wilson said the pair would represent the club with pride.

Team manager Ingrid Ostle, and officials Digby Wilson, Carolyn Wilson and Megan Williams, will travel with the group.
