Waikiki service station theft and rocks thrown

A WAIKIKI service station attendant locked two men in after an alleged stealing incident in Waikiki last night.

Police said the men entered the service station on Gnangara Drive at about 10.30pm .

It will be alleged that one of the men asked for a packet of cigarettes, which the female attendant placed on the counter.

The man grabbed the cigarettes and the second man selected several food and drink items.

The attendant locked the exit doors to prevent the men from leaving. Both men acted in an aggressive way towards the attendant. The attendant unlocked the doors once the packet of cigarettes, food and drink items were returned.

Once the entry doors were unlocked, the two men left, getting onto bicycles and leaving the scene.

Police attended and patrolled the surrounding area, locating a man nearby. As this man was being arrested, the second man allegedly threw rocks at the police vehicle. He was found in a nearby garden bed, where he was arrested.

A 21-year-old man from Rockingham was charged with aggravated robbery, stealing and obstructing a public officer. He is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court later today.

A 25-year-old man from Rockingham was charged with stealing. He is due to appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on March 23.
