Waikiki woman’s hosting job on Rottnest Island

The pair, volunteers with the Rottnest Volunteer Guides Association, ensures guests have everything they need and that all the facilities are in good working order.

“We do checks to make sure there are no blocked toilets, that everything is working in the kitchen and we just make sure everyone feels welcome,” Elaine said.

“If there are any problems we can sort it out.”

Camp hosts were in place for the summer holidays last year and this year ran through until April.

“Yesterday we had four senior schools here… there were a lot of people,” Elaine said.

“It shows how well used the grounds are.”
