WARNBRO Sound Joey Scouts visited Rockingham General Hospital’s Paediatric Ward on Monday, February 26 to learn more about their community.
Paediatric Ward Nurse Unit Manager Vicki Filby said it was a pleasure to have the children visit and show them around the ward.
“It’s a great idea to familiarise the children with the hospital environment,” Ms Filby said.

READ NOW“We showed the children how to listen to their heart and lung sounds through a stethoscope and try on oxygen masks.
“They enjoyed taking their pulse with the pulse oximeter and they also got to ask the paediatric resident some questions.”
The group of six to eight year old scouts visited the hospital as part of achieving their “caring and sharing” badge.
Warnbro Sound Joey Scouts leader Katie Taylforth said the aim of the visit would be to introduce the kids to the hospital setting and show them what important members of the community do every day.
“We wanted to show them that hospital isn’t a big scary place and that doctors and nurses are there to help people,” she said.
