A NEW mobile phone tower in Wellard is set to offer residents improved connectivity and offer 4GX, one of the world’s fastest mobile phone networks.

The tower will also increase 4G coverage within the area.

Telstra area general manager Guy Champion said the new tower would improve service for its customers nearby.

“People are relying on mobile connectivity more than ever,” he said.

“The explosion in applications, shift towards mobile video consumption and use of mobile in commerce means reliable connectivity is essential.

“To achieve this we’re introducing 4GX to increase network capacity and deliver a high-speed mobile service to support local communities and businesses, like the hub around the Wellard train station.”

Mr Champion said he appreciated the support of Kwinana MLA Roger Cook and the Public Transport Authority for their assistance in bringing the project to fruition.

“This has definitely been a team effort in getting this new mobile base station across the finish line and the Wellard community are going to be the big winners,” he said.
