A WOMAN claimed she smashed up a Thermomix after her former husband got angry with her for falling pregnant a second time.

Ngoc Anh Nguyen pleaded guilty to damaging property when she appeared at Rockingham Magistrates Court on November 9.

Nguyen visited the Wellard home she used to share with her husband to collect some personal belongings.

Having her own key, she entered and not only found another woman had moved in and set-up home but, to her surprise, she saw children’s furniture in the living area which enraged her.

She then pulled photographs from the wall, smashed a vase and the $2319 Thermomix.

The prosecutor sought $100 compensation to pay for the excess on insurance for the damaged property.

The duty lawyer said she had only been separated from her husband for three months and they had been married for 10 years.

She said she lost control when she realised another woman with a child was living in the home.

She said when she fell pregnant a second time, her husband “got very angry” with her and told her “she would have to raise it herself and be financially responsible for the child”.

The lawyer said it was for those reasons – seeing her husband had seemingly embraced another child – that she got angry.

The lawyer asked for a spent conviction.

Magistrate Vivien Edwards fined her $500 and ordered $100 compensation and granted a spent conviction.
