Woman uses brick to smash up car of love rival, injures hand

A WOMAN used a brick to smash the windows of a car belonging to a love rival, but severely injured her hand in the process.

Isabel Goodes pleaded guilty to destruction of property, when she appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday.

The police prosecutor said Goodes was at the front of a Secret Harbour house on October 22 and used a brick to smash several windows of a VW Beetle vehicle.

The damage bill was more than $3100.

The duty lawyer said the mother of three had recently separated from her husband and the vehicle belonged to a woman he was seeing.

She badly injured her hand during the incident and required surgery, which affected her work as a cake decorator.

Magistrate Anne Longden accepted the incident was out of character for Goodes and fined her $2000, to be paid to the victim.
