Woman uses brick to smash up car of husband’s new partner, injures hand

A WOMAN used a brick to smash the windows of a car belonging to a love rival because she “saw red”, but severely injured her hand in the process.

Isabel Goodes pleaded guilty to destruction of property, when she appeared in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday .

The police prosecutor said Goodes was out the front of a Secret Harbour house on October 22 and used a brick to smash several windows of the VW Beetle.

The damage bill was more than $3100.

The duty lawyer said the mother of three had recently separated from her husband. The vehicle belonged to a woman her husband was seeing.

The duty lawyer said Goodes accepted her behaviour was unacceptable.

Goodes had acted recklessly, without thinking.

She badly injured her hand during the incident and required surgery.

This had affected her work as a cake decorator.

Magistrate Anne Longden accepted the incident was out of character for Goodes.

She fined Goodes $2000, which is to be paid to the victim.
