THREE people have been killed in workplace accidents across Perth in one day.

WA Police reported that they were called to an incident at 11.35am at a construction site near the corner of Goderich Street and Bennett Street, East Perth.

Police were told two people were trapped under a large slab of concrete.

Police, St John Ambulance and Department of Fire and Emergency Services workers attended the scene, however the two people were confirmed as deceased.

At this time they have not been identified.

A Worksafe WA spokeswoman said the organisation had not yet been able to get on site.

The spokeswoman said Worksafe was unable to confirm the cause of the incident or whether the families had been told yet.

Meanwhile, a contractor working at Alcoa’s Kwinana alumina refinery was killed this afternoon following a fall.

At about 12.30pm, the contractor fell from an unknown height and was fatally injured.

No other employees or contractors were injured in the accident.

Alcoa Australia said it was “deeply saddened” by the incident and was working closely with relevant authorities to provide information and support to its workforce.

Due to the location of the incident, the Department of Mines and Petroleum have been advised and are attending the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

WA Police will prepare a report for the Coroner on both incidents.
