BALDIVIS resident Sophie White is a contender for a Hyundai Junior Sports Star Awards.
The 16-year-old equalled Olympic gold medallist Sally Pearson’s Australian under-18 100m hurdles record last year. She then went on to win a silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.
Sophie also competed in the Malaysian Championships in May, where she won gold in the hurdles.

READ NOWA student at Tranby College, Sophie has been involved in athletics since she was eight years old. She is still a member of Rockingham Little Athletics.
Sophie also competes for the University of Western Australia.
She trains twice a week and goes to the gym throughout the week.
