ROCKINGHAM teen Mitchell Field represented WA at the School Sport Australia Baseball Championship in Adelaide from May 1-5.

The Living Waters Lutheran College student flew to Adelaide with 17 other students to play seven games at Adelaide Shores and Glenelg Baseball Club.

The team came fifth in a field of six teams.

“The competition was tough and we were fielding a young side in comparison to the other teams,” he said.

“We won three of the seven games we played.”

Field was the only student selected from his school.

“I was selected out of about 30 or more students who tried out,” he said.

“I had a great time playing baseball in Glenelg, it was a lot of fun and I made some good friends within the team.

“The coaches gave me some good advice and I learned a lot more about the sport.”

The Year 11 student said he had been playing baseball for four years.

“My future plans are to go to an American college and play in the Major League,” he said.

“I know that this is a tough road and even if I work hard I may not make it but I’ll give it my best shot.”
