Champion lift good for silver

The Rockingham resident, who has been training at Olympifit gym for the past nine months, competed in the 56kg division and managed to lift a combined weight of 161kg.

Stolton said leading into the championships he had aimed to improve his speed, flexibility, co-ordination and total body strength.

‘This was the first big national competition for me in weightlifting,’ he said.

‘I was excited but also a little nervous because I was representing WA and my club.

Sarah Wignall and Givney How also competed in the championships from Olympifit.

Givney won gold in the youth division and Wignall smashed her personal best and was placed fourth in her division.
