Courtney’s passion for the game has landed her a spot in the U18 female indigenous football team with the Australian Institute of Sport.
The self-confessed ‘sporty-chick’ was selected for the team after representing WA in a national competition held in Melbourne recently.
Growing up with two brothers who have also taken a strong liking to the game, Courtney said she started kicking the ball around from a young age.
‘I started getting involved in football when I was little and I have played a lot of sport, but football is definitely my favourite,’ she said.
‘The selectors were looking for players who could kick straight, had good on-field skills and who liked to keep fit, and I was the youngest selected.’
Courtney will continue to play for the Rockingham Rams and hopes females will one day have a higher status in the game compared to males.
