In the girls race, Claudia and Abigail Scarborough, along with Vanessa Baker and Tayissa Weeks, had a great tussle, with the girls finishing in that order.

In the men’s seniors race, several of the local big guns came out to play and what a spectacle they provided.

Leading the way out from the white wash of swimmers was Wade Adam, with Brett Johnson and Kevin Mckewan in hot pursuit, then a rush of competitors, including Dale Zabiela, Greg Manning, Matt Ware and Ben Trewben.

Adam was first on the bike leg, followed by Mckewan and Johnson.

Johnson edged ahead of Adam on the final bike lap as the pair entered the transition zone for the 3km run leg.

The pair extended their gap from the rest of the field, with Adam taking the win ahead of Johnson, with Mckewan third.

It was yet another great contest in the women’s division, with RTC club president Gloria Stewart in the mix with Bree Trewin and a determined Mikaela Byrnes.

With the finish line in sight, it was Bynes putting down the winning run to cross ahead of Trewin, with Tracey Schmidt followed by Stewart.
