THE Footwork Dance Company celebrated its 30th anniversary in style after winning the Kwinana Dance Festival’s top performance category for the fourth year in a row.

It also won two out of three choreography awards.

Elated owner Jennifer Lazenby said she was thrilled that the Port Kennedy company had won the category again after an intense 11-day competition.

“It was another years’ hard work put in by all the amazingly talented dancers and teachers and all our supportive parents,” Ms Lazenby said.

“I was there the first year of Kwinana Dance Festival in 1991 and we won the first highest mark of the festival that year and best choreography award.

“Even after all this time we are still always humbled by how successful our students perform when up against so many talented dancers.”

One of the school’s dancers, Kirsty Clarke, won the outstanding dancer of the festival award for the second year running.

She also won the equal highest mark of the festival award, along with the highest mark in any contemporary, neo-classical and classical solo and the highest aggregate award.

The dancers were now rehearsing for their annual concert at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on November 13.
