He has been volunteering for the past 10 years as a trained first aid assistant for St John Ambulance services, attending sports events and ensuring athletes have the best medical care.

For his dedication to the role, Luke has been nominated in the Ultimate Volunteer Reward Competition, recognising outstanding WA volunteers who help keep their sporting communities alive. Nominations close at 6pm on March 7.

Mr Roberts started out as a cadet at the age of 11, interesting in the role of a first aid officer and eager to explore the opportunities it could open for him.

Now at the ripe age of 21, Mr Roberts is thankful for the opportunities he has been given at Subiaco Oval, Perth Motorplex and local junior sport programs including rugby, soccer and football.

‘The reason I love volunteering at sport and recreation events is being able to help out when needed for first aid needs when an unfortunate injury or illness happens to the people participating in the sport,’ he said.

Mr Roberts is also a third-year apprentice for an electrical training group in the Rockingham and Kwinana area.
