Marcel Rossi joined the program earlier this month at a critical time for the club, which is experiencing an increase to membership numbers due to the 2013 winter season.

He said the opportunity to represent Kwinana was exciting.

‘Kwinana is a small yet fast growing club and has the potential to become one of the greatest swimming clubs in WA,’ he said.

‘I’ll be able to develop new skills in my coaching career alongside a group of other coaches.’

Club spokesman Ryan Whiddett said the appointment of Rossi was important.

‘Our membership is over 100 with more than 50 active squad swimmers,’ he said.

‘Appointing Marcel allows us to maintain the quality of squads we offer and allows us to facilitate future growth.’

Rossi comes from Brazil, where he first began teaching and coaching children to swim before moving to Australian to study at UWA.
