Peel Football League: Waroona takes down Rams

A STRONG first quarter helped Waroona set up its second win of the season against the Rockingham Rams on Saturday, winning by 19 points, 15.11 (101) to 12.10 (82) in the Peel Football and Netball League competition.

The Demons got off to a great start, kicking 6.1 to the Rams’ 2.1 in the first quarter.

Rockingham responded strongly in the second quarter, kicking 6.2 to 3.3.

Only two points separated the sides in Waroona’s favour at the end of the third quarter.

The Demons stretched their lead in the final term, kicking 3.3 to 0.4 and are fourth on the PFNL table, with Rockingham fifth.

A. Wilson and K. Bradley were the leading goalkickers for Waroona with 3 each.

Other goalkickers were B. Sutton 2, J. Giumelli 2, R. Bloxsidge 1, R. Gardiner 1, H. Ellis 1, C. Wrigley 1 and R. Mason 1.

Best players were C. Lakay, R. Mason, C. Wrigley, B. Sutton and A. Wilson.

K. Hinchcliffe kicked 5 goals for the Rams, with L. Dowling kicking 3, T. Sutton 2, R. Collins 1 and R. Allison 1.

Best for Rockingham were C. Oliver, R. Collins, D. Hill, F. Millar, J. Williams and S. Kenny.

In other league games,Baldivis defeated Mandurah 11.13 (79) to 8.13 (61). Centrals defeated Halls Head, 17.8 (110) to 9.6 (60). South Mandurah defeated Pinjarra, 9.15 (69) to 7.10 (52).
