THE first criterion of the season saw Peel District Cycling Club return to the Pinjarra industrial estate for the first time in a number of years.

A strong north-easterly wind made the back half of the course demanding, which made being in a break or chasing a challenge.

The juniors raced one lap and in the end it was Cheyanne Miller taking the win from Kassandra Glorie with Gabe Glorie third.

The E-grade race broke up on the first lap, with five riders escaping.

Alex Maude was too fast for Todd Brown, taking the win with Anita Watters in her first race third.

Richard Ramos marked his first race back after open-heart surgery by attacking on the first lap of D grade and managed to establish a break.

After two laps, Oliver Bleddyn joined Ramos and Paul Miller and the trio forged a solid lead.

The fast pace saw Miller drop in the final stages with Bleddyn attacking on the final lap to take the win over Ramos who finished second with Zoe Stalton third.

C grade had a bunch sprint finish and with Leanda Saleh claiming first place with Aron Barclay second and Wayne Rowe third.

B grade saw Steve Leahy, Andrew Brown and Jordan Dawson establish a solid lead early. However Dawson faltered, leaving Leahy to take the win and a promotion to A grade, while Brown finished a close second and John Duncan in third.

The largest field of the day was A grade with 27 riders and six of them broke early to establish a solid lead.

Theo Yates survived a number of challenges from the trailing pack before claiming a sprint finish, with Wade Longworth finishing second and David Nickels third.
