PORT Kennedy Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Club had impressive results at the WA Invitational Championships on July 2 with 15 first placings among its swag of medals.
With 26 of its best competing, events included full contact sparring and poomsae (patterns) divisions.
Youngsters (from six years old) proudly showed off their skills, greatly pleasing Master Instructor Anita Tippet.
“I was extremely proud of my competitors,” she said.
“They showed their strength and determination by competing at this event.
“Oh Do Kwan winning was the best overall club in both sparring and poomsae, Port Kennedy club won 15 1st places, seven 2nd places and nine 3rd place winners.”
1st place sparring: Kingston Szann, Holly Martin, Caiden Dolan, Jack Martin, Beckham Wilkinson, Ava Dolan, Mia Dolan, Jorden Henness, Taj Barbour, Rodney Hartmann, Chris Payne and Noah Williamson-Cowcher.
Poomsae: Sally Burford, Shanice Simpson and Ava Dolan.
“Port Kennedy has a fantastic team structure with lots of support from coaches and supporters,” Tippet said.
“The club has so many talented students like Rodney Hartmann who represented Australia at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Canada and won gold in Fiji at the Oceania Championships in 2016.
“He is a great role model for the younger competitors.”
