THE Rockingham Bowling Club held an Opening Day on September 2 to celebrate the beginning of the 2017 to 2018 bowls season.

About 50 players and guests joined in a novelty event organised by club captains Cheryl Simpson and Frank McKendry.

Players were challenged to play left-handed, playing in positions they were not used to and using their opponents’ bowls instead of their own.

Club members are looking forward to the pennant season next month and will be fielding teams in both the men’s and ladies’ pennant competitions.

During summer there will be corporate bowls.

Social bowls are on Thursday and Saturday afternoons.

New members are always welcomed and free coaching is available.
