Rockingham’s players established themselves as a team to beat in the 2016 league competition following impressive victories over Wanneroo, Southern Lions, Western Suburbs and Bunbury.
Their only loss of the tournament was a close contest with Mandurah in the final match of the group stage, but they exacted their revenge in the final.
Mandurah opened the scoring and continued to apply pressure throughout the half, with good scrambling defence and tackle pressure keeping Rockingham in the contest.
A late score saw Rockingham head into half-time down 7-5, but they dominated the second half through weight of possession and ran in three tries.
Fatigue became a factor for both sides late in the game, with Mandurah closing the gap but falling just short at the final whistle as Rockingham ran out 29-22 winners.
