THE Rockingham Rugby Union A Grade side is off the mark with a courageous one-point win against Swan Suburbs at Leschenault Reserve last Saturday.
The side was playing its third game of the season but was missing many regular first-team players.
Rockingham’s sharp lineouts and a powerful scrum wore down their opponents leading to a push over try with captain Jordan opening its account.
Winger Jamie Brady scored the side’s second try off a Dudley Cortland kick.
But Swans fought back in the second half, clinching the lead with a strong 15-minute patch to be with 21-17, with 10 minutes to go.
Rockingham dug deep and applied constant pressure with Ngahere Hainsworth scoring just before the final whistle.
