San Remo teen representing WA in triathlon comp

SAN Remo athlete Ronan Hays (17) is competing in the School Sport WA Triathlon Team.

The championships take place on the Gold Coast from May 2 to 6.

The Frederick Irwin Anglican School student has competed for two seasons with support from the Mandurah Triathlon Club.

“I go on training rides, do open water swim sessions and running with them and they are always giving me helpful hints on how to get better results,” he said.

“I train twice a day. I swim with Mandurah Swim Club every morning and then do a bike ride or run in the afternoon. I usually do a hard bike ride on the weekend and running training on a Monday.”

The talented athlete worked hard to achieve his goal to make the interstate team this year.

“We have a strong team from WA this year so hopefully we do okay and get some good results,” he said.

“I would like to eventually make a national team and compete overseas.”
