ROCKINGHAM Flames star Sami Whitcomb has been named the WSBL’s round two MVP just days after claiming the Perth Lynx’s season MVP.

The Californian-born Whitcomb has enjoyed a hot start to her 2016 WSBL season, sinking 35 points against Joondalup Wolves last week, including a three-pointer with just seconds left on the clock to give the Flames a 109-108 victory.

Three days later, Whitcomb was again the star with a game high 25 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in just 25 minutes of play as the Flames defeated East Perth Eagles 78-45.

Whitcomb and her teammates now turn their attention to Saturday evening’s game at Mike Barnett Sports Complex against the Cockburn Cougars before a short turn around, playing Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Sunday.

The Flames endured a shock loss to Willetton in round one of the WSBL before rebounding with two victories over Joondalup and East Perth over the Easter weekend.

The Flames are currently fourth on the table, with the Cougars in seventh while the Suns are ninth and yet to win a game.

Rockingham is chasing its third WSBL Championship on the trot, while Whitcomb is already a favourite to claim a fourth competition MVP title.

Tip-off for Saturday’s game is 6.30pm with Sunday’s match at Ray Owen Sports Centre scheduled for a 12pm start.
