SBL: Rockingham Flames win again

ROCKINGHAM Flames has continued its solid SBL form with both the men and women posting commanding wins last week.

The men moved up to third with a 113-85 win over Lakeside Lightning on Saturday night.

Chudier Pal led the way with 27 points and 16 rebounds, an effort seeing him named in team of the week with Cooper Land not far behind, sinking 30 points with 14 rebounds.

The Flames took a 21-18 lead into the first change, with a dominant second term setting up the victory.

Earlier the women notched up a 77-61 win over the Lightning.

Lakeside took a 20-16 lead into the first change but the third-placed women recovered well, piling on 27 points to 13 in the third quarter.

Jacinta Bourne’s effort of 17 points and five assists saw her named in team of the week, while Darcee Garbin stood tall in the absence of three-time competition MVP Sami Whitcomb, netting 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Next up for the men is a trip to Geraldton to take on the ninth placed Buccaneers on Saturday evening, while the women will enjoy a bye before a mouth-watering derby with the Mandurah Magic on Anzac Day eve.
