ROCKINGHAM girl Judy Lynn Connolly was part of WA’s under 14 Girls State team which participated in the Football Federation Australia’s National Youth Championships in NSW.

WA’s under-14 and under-15 girls state teams are participating in the tournament which finishes today .

The tournament is used by Football Federation Australia officials to identify young talent from each state federation for future Young Matildas squads.

Football West technical manager Cris Ola said the Championships represented a great opportunity for players to be identified for national programs.

“The National Youth Championships will pinpoint players who may be able to progress further and possibly be invited to nationals camps,” he said.

“Both of the squads representing WA over the next week are made up of very talented players who are continuously improving their standard of football.

“The players are supported by a fantastic group of coaches and managers and they are looking forward to the opportunity to take their game to the next level.”

WA’s under-14 side is coached by Faye Chambers with Gavin Sit assisting and former Matildas midfielder Collette McCallum managing the team.
