State captain wants to make the grade

The Secret Harbour golfer is making her mark on the sport and has been selected as the captain of the WA Girl�s Team.

She has also been picked in the women�s team for the first time. Her dad Glenn Whitting said she started playing at just eight.

�She played because her older brother played. She had her first lessons at Secret Harbour,� he said. Jessica is a member of Royal Fremantle Golf Club, Kwinana Golf Club and trains at least three days a week at Secret Harbour Golf Club.

�(Jessica) plans to go to golf college in the US and understands grades are more important than golf at present,� he said.

In 2012 and 2015 she won the Girls Match-Play event and the 2013 Rockingham Ladies Amateur Open Champion.
